EDA

Overview

Project Group Design were appointed by Cole Waterhouse to develop a unique, character-rich furniture scheme - both fitted and loose - for their new flagship PRS development, EDA in Salford. The brief was clear: create bespoke, design-led furniture that felt instantly like home, while remaining within the cost parameters of a standard off-the-shelf furniture pack.

Design Approach: Inspired by Place

To fully understand the vision and embed local identity into the design, our team undertook an in-depth exploration of the development’s surroundings. A full day was spent walking the area with a curated printed tour, uncovering the heritage, stories, and architectural cues that make this part of Salford unique. These insights became the creative foundation of the bespoke furniture collection, ensuring each piece reflected the character and history of the location.

Collaborative Design Development

Working closely with the client, we refined each design element through a highly collaborative process.

• In-person presentations and materiality workshops provided the opportunity to discuss concepts in detail.

• Clients were able to handle materials, fabrics, and finish samples, helping shape a final scheme that balanced aesthetics, practicality, and budget.

This hands-on approach ensured full engagement at each stage and aligned the final designs closely with Cole Waterhouse’s vision of creating a warm, welcoming home for future residents.

A Truly Unique Furniture Collection

To help EDA stand out in a competitive PRS market, our design team produced entirely project-specific furniture. The furniture package provided at EDA is truly one-of-a-kind, unavailable anywhere else in the UK, delivering a high-quality, premium aesthetic without exceeding budget constraints.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability was prioritised throughout the project, with FSC-certified and responsibly sourced materials, recycled-content fabrics, and designs engineered for long-term durability. The result is a high-quality, luxe furniture collection that minimises environmental impact and supports long-term operational efficiency.

The EDA project exemplifies how thoughtful, place-driven design - combined with technical expertise and collaborative development - can deliver a distinctive, sustainable furniture package that enhances both resident experience and building identity.
